prince dorian havilliard is the first born son of georgina and king dorian havilliard I. he has one brother called hollin.in his childhood, dorian was groomed to be a future king. he was a studeous prince who often found himself in trouble with one of the servants. he never truly did damage, but he did find himself constantly being reprimanded for not being as 'princely' as he was supposed to be. when he was caught doing something he wasn't supposed to, like stealing and eating an entire mixed berry pie and being sick for a whole day, he would be ordered by his father to have dancing lessons. dorian detested the lessons and vowed to try to stay out of trouble - or at least not get caught.he became a very great ballroom dancer.before meeting celaena, dorian was a teenage heartbreaker. he was a shameless flirt and found himself in the beds of many different women throughout the castle. once he met pulled the assassin from endovier prison and made her the king's champion, he stopped most of his shamelessness. the flirting was harmless and the sleeping around had stopped. he'd become smitten with the blonde beauty and fell in love with her._______________________________________________________________________________________________________NOT SPOILER FREE AHEAD ! please refer to the PERSONALITY section of this carrd !________________________________________________________________________________________________________during this time, he begins to distance himself from his father's authoritarian role and begins noticing more magical substance around. he's becoming more aware of how cruel the empire his father commands truly is. . . and he's not okay with it. during this time, the woman he'd pulled from the icy prison wins the competition they've put her in and his feelings increase for her, but he knows they cannot last. he tucks them away and tries to forget about them as a romance strikes up between his best friend, chaol, and his first love, celaena. their relationship becomes more strained and dorian pulls away from the pair, though not only because of their falling in love but also because of his own physical and mental changes.there was a magical ban on their kingdom and it was slowly returning . . . along with dorian's own magic that he had no idea existed. his first magic manifests as cold and ice, scaring him. he realizes what is happening and he fears his magic in a world where there should not be any. he tells no one, not even his best friends, and tries to deal with it all on his own. eventually, the tension is just too much and he and chaol cannot get along. celaena leaves the castle and his magic grows too large to ignore. . and it terrifies him.as the tyranny grows and dorian has lost his friends for the time being, he finds himself spending more time with a healer, sorscha.easily, dorian falls in love with sorscha and she helps him with his magic. she knows his secrets and they bond over the fact. she's a talented healer and an even better lover and listener. but things aren't all that great as king dorian begins watching his son even closer than ever before. dorian isn't sure of what to make of this and becomes more politically rebellious as he notices all of the things that seem out of character or place. things that become unfair and rules that should be be broken.because of dorian's defiance and his secret relationship with the healer, who is not of his 'caliber', king dorian executes sorscha right in front of dorian. in rage and anguish, dorian fights back for a mere moment before his father has a wyrdstone collar placed around his son's neck. it's a demonic collar that leaves a valg prince in charge of dorian's body.during this time, dorian fights and fights to come to the surface but ultimately cannot fully fight off the demon inside of him. most of this time, dorian is possessed as no one can save him. he hurts people against his will, killing and maiming. he does whatever the demon commands him to do and he constantly fights against it, trying to bring his own consciousness to the surface. all of his friends around him cannot save him, no matter what they try to do and they have to watch in horror as dorian does things - like murder innocent people - while they stand by.it is finally celaena, who comes back as aelin, to reach him emotionally and hold on long enough for her to shatter the collar and set him free. dorian then kills his own father, who was also possessed for years. this devastates dorian to his core and he wrestles with this knowledge for years later. once his father is dead, dorian is then crowned king.his kingdom is in shambles and he must rebuild it despite all of the trauma he had just gone through. he was still fighting after effects from the demon, his father's death, new knowledge, and a crumbling society. with all of this happening, dorian still joins in aelin's war against the valg. he wants adarlan to be a place where everyone can live happily, fairly, and just.during this time, he teams up with manon blackbeak, a witch. in their relationship, dorian explores more parts of himself and finds that she is the key to helping him grow as not only a leader, but a man beyond that leadership.and you know, obviously he falls in love with her.by the end, dorian is a force to be reckoned with. his magic is one of the most powerful in the land and the most dangerous.he is committed to healing the land, himself, and his people. dorian vows to bring peace and wealth back to his kingdom.
